My Loves As Of Late

Here is a vague and brief representation of what I have been loving this month, using gifs from my tumblr blog! ENJOY!

I became obsessed with "The Lucy Show" at age 6, and I mean OBSESSED. And I just started watching
"I Love Lucy". Goodbye social life!

The Chesire Cat for two reasons, I just celebrated my 1 year anniversary with Harry Styles who grew up in Chesire, England and I've been loving cat-eye eyeliner. Oh, and I <3 the Chesire Cat.;)

In the past month I've not only watching "Princess Diaries" but also the sequel, and I shamelessly will admit, I enjoyed every moment.

Growing up I spent every summer in New York visiting my grandparents, New York is apart of me. My heart has been in New York for my whole life. My mom grew up there and all my family from her side lives there too. Also, Audrey Hepburn is my wommmmaaan. In my house we all kind of have our "people". They are the people that if we see something with one of "them" on it, we feel obligated to buy it from said family member. My sister's is Alice in Wonderland, my mom's is the Green M&M, mine are Barbie, Snow White and Audrey. (my dad and brother don't have any, ha ha!) So here is a nice little gif with LOTS of meaning. :D

Classic Tim Burton. A director I want to work with oh-so-badly. (and not just because that would most likely mean working with two of my biggest acting inspirations. Helena and Johnny forevvvaa!)

And of course Disney. I will ALWAYS love Disney. :)

Quick Fire Favorites:
Book: Divirgent
Song: Brahms Requiem Movement 5
Food: Sugar cookies, that or steamed broccoli
Movie: The Lorax
Game: Crib... or playing poker with runts, haha. Oh and "get the goldfish" ;)

Are you fat and fabulous? read this. (hahahah noooooo i'm not fat, but i am FABULOUS! this is still a great read for us average gals) http://diannesylvan.com/archives/1358

You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, darling

Spring Into Summer: Style Me Happy

I am LOVING this year's spring trends. Here are the things I am loving!

Don't fret, those colored bottoms of yours are still on trend. Either go with a poppin' pink, cobalt blue or try pastels. :)

Keep your hair nice and relaxed, I love this pony. And these tousled curls are perfect for second (..or if your like me third. hey, we all have our problems.) day hair. Keep it simple, clean, fresh. Isn't that what spring is all about?

Make-up trends this year are very fun. Believe it or not.. blue eye shadow is having a moment. (Plleeeease, please let this be a VERY short moment!). I am definitely NOT one for blue make up. But I love the pop under the eye. Doing a full on ocean blue eye would be over whelming and could end up making you look like your mom in the 80's. (no disrespect.)

On another, much happier note, bold lips are still in. Feel free to rock those deep plum and crimson pouts one more season, but if your looking to be the epitome of style pull out those  long lost coral lipsticks. Coral, hot pink and subtle red (ha, is there such a thing) are going to be your best friend. Even orange is hitting store shelves.

*tip: choose colors with blue undertones. they make your pearly whites... well maybe those pearly yellows (?) look white! Nothing like a good optical illusion to improve one's appearance. (after all, isn't all make up an optical illusion, haha!)
If you are a fashion risk taker you should love this trend. Bold as can be sunnies are in, in, IN! Go wild. Go crazy. And protect those eyes from the sun! You only get one pair, there aren't even an equivalent to dentures for your eyes. Be good to them AND look fabulous.

The blazer is taking a fresh take this spring, the more structured "tuxedo jacket"  is all the rage. The photo above isn't a "tuxedo jacket" exactly, but rather a really cute blazer. Oh well! (you can find this blazer in Lauren Conrad's spring collection)

Take a turn for the sweet, swap those bright pinks and cobalt blues for a creamy, baby pink or peach with a bold twist. Look for pastel clothing items with embellishment, bows and little bit of glitz. It shouldn't be hard to find something along those lines. Stores are knee-high in pastels.

These photo's cover many trends. Jailhouse stripes, mod, bold sunnies, portfolio clutches; you name it.

Overall: Be BOLD. Not only with clothes but be bold in all aspects of life. There is a quote that says:

"The brave may not live forever, but the cautious do not live at all."

Apply that to any aspect of life. Be brave. Wear orange lipstick, heart sunglasses. Why not? You have NOTHING to lose. So go for it.

I suggest looking on H & M, Forever 21 & Mod Cloth. If you like to be economical, as do I, check out your thrift store. you never know what treasures you'll come across. (says the girl wearing a vintage Minnie Mouse sweatshirt from Value Village... and writing a fashion blog post. that's a little bit sketchy. isn't it?!)

Remember, your style should dictate YOU. Not the trends. I personally love these so much because it does represent a lot of who I am. I'm bold and love anything (almost anything!)  inspired by the 1950-1980 range. But hey, these trends may not apply to you. So don't wear it if you don't want to.

Stay beautiful. :)

-Rach

More to come on trends in the near future. Til then, what do you think of this year's trends?

Lady Like: My Favorite Women Of Class

When I think of who I want to be when I grow older, it can be put into simple terms "lady like".  When these words come to mind I think of a elegant women, she has the perfect shade of lipstick on, a gorgeous manicure, and she is all around classy. But if you're like me, someone who would rather be in  jeans and have my hair in a messy bun, let me clue you in on some super easy ways to make yourself a classier women. In my series "Lady Like" you'll find an easy guide to being the classy women you've DREAMED of being. (or at least I have!) Confused? Well, allow me to break this down for you.

There are two famous women who come to my mind when I think of lady like, one of which is very famous, the other although she is famous I think she is too often over looked. I hope I got your mind scrambling trying to figure out who i'm talking about. Who came to your mind? (LET ME KNOW, in the comments below!)

First off i'll start with the ever so famous Audrey Hepburn. The definition of true beauty. She was a philanthropist, a talented actress, and CLASSY. Yes. How many women can you describe today as classy? I can only think of two true women of class, and I love them both dearly. But Audrey had certain air about her. I hope you've heard about her and have some knowledge on her. But here are a few photos of her. Eye eyes seem to light up like a lit match. Isn't she stunning? Of course she is, and she has the heart to match the outwardly beauty.

The next woman of class is none other than Lucille Ball. I wanted to include her because first off she is classy and I love her. Secondly because I think many people have the idea in there head that being classy means draining the fun out of everything. SO WRONG. In fact I think being classy requires a element of fun. There is a quote that describes Lucy to a T:

She was playful and energetic. Not only that but she was HILARIOUS! And the best part? She used classy humor, it wasn't dirty. Having that skill is sheer luck. Or maybe just a lot of practice, either way, Lucy was classy AND fun. Believe it or not those to are not either or.

Here are some beautiful photo's of Lucy.

I love these two women, they left the world with a terrific legacy; classy, fun, and beautiful in all regards. I hope to do the same, but the journey is a little rough.

So in Lady Like i'll be exploring different ways to be a little bit classier. Come along and join me for the RIDE!

Look out for future Lady Like posts!

MAKE THE MOST OF TODAY!!!

Srping Into Summer: Lamps, Teapots and Books; OH MY!

{A quick note: I'm going to start my first ever blog series!! YAY! It's called "Spring Into Summer", I know it's a bit early, but the series won't kick off for a while! Look out for a blog post in the future explaining more!}

I love a well put together bedroom. I love when I can tell the personality of someone just by seeing a photo of there room. For instance, on Pinterest there are tons and tons of bedroom designs, and if I saw this bedroom, I would think this person loves glam, and is probably always pulled together, this young women is also bound to be very classy.

 { Photo Cred: laurenconrad.com }

Adding in your own personality can somewhat hard to do. I look for little ways I can make my room my own. Something that plays a major role in my life is my relationships, so I put together this heart photo collage above my bed:

{ This idea came from Bethany Mota, or MacBarbie07 on YouTube  }
Other ways I love to add in personality is coffee table books, or rather any books. What a person reads says a lot about them. I have a few coffee table books, but i'm really just beggining my collection! Here is a photo that I find really inspiring:

I love the presentation of these books AND the grey striped walls behind!

Another way that is super, super easy to add in a little bit of yourself is in the little things. The accents pieces. Don't limit the possibilities. You can use anything as an accent, lamps, teapots, or books. If you like it, GO FOR IT! If I were adding in some more fun accents I would add these:

This lighting option is so cute.

So is this one... Makes me wanna travel!

J'aime le thé. (need a translation? )
http://translate.google.com
And of course something to remind you of the endless possibilities in life. Keep dreaming. :)

Your room is your personal space, and if you love it you'll spend more time in it. Don't forget that a room- refresher doesn't have to cost more than $10 bucks. Get crafty. Join Pinterest, you'll be inspired. Trust me! And then from there THRIFT and RE-PURPOSE. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Spring into Summer with a fresh new space and mind set.

-Rach :)

Turn Around Tuesday

Well, I'm loving this whole blogging thing. Seriously, my mind races to blog ideas whenever i'm not consumed with other things. Right now i'm in the car driving on these roads (scarrrrry!)...

and headed to an eye appointment. I've never needed glasses, but maybe this time I will. I'll be thrilled if i do- i've always wanted them. They are a fun accessory, they make you look studious and I look good in them. (just sayin'). And yes, i'll probably hate them in a month. Oh well! Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game... Or maybe don't let the fear of hating something in the future keep you from loving it now!

Today was super BLAH, you know what I mean right? I woke up late and had to substitute a full body shower for just a quick hair wash. Therefore i've felt gross again today. Usually after a day like yesterday I try to look good. As I scurried out the front door I realized I forgot my binder and had to run back and get it. From there the day did improve but in all honesty it was not a day for the record books. Although I'm not losing hope! The day could still get better! I could get glasses, I could nail all my lines at drama rehearsal. For all I know this could still end up as the best day all week.

Oh, i guess i should tell you about the musical i'm in. my school is doing the musical "The Wizard Of Oz"; super cool right?? The most exciting part is that i'm the Wicked Witch (AHHH! So cool!) It's a fairly over whelming role, and requires a lot of confidence, but i'm sure I can do it! And just because I think I can, I CAN. I have a whack load of lines to memorize by this weekend; streeessful! This über crazy role is stretching me beyond my comfort zone and growing my acting abilities. I tend to second guess myself and my instincts, so playing this character is really pushing my limits.
i'm here in the waiting room with two men probably around the age of 65. and they definitely don't know I have a blog, or that I like cherry suckers the best, or that I love cows. and it makes me wonder about these men, what are their stories? They are entering seniority (is that a word???) and exiting youth. How interesting? I love being in the midst of older people, they are a blessing, these people have lived life. I often think about how lucky they are, they already know that they'll live long, that they won't die young. I would love to have that assurance. Not only that but these men impraticular have grown old and not become bitter by the world, but to my limited knowledge, grown better.

{SOME TIME PASSES}

Ok so just then the doctor came and got me. But now I have some super EXCITING news to tell you!! I'M GETTING GLASSES! WAHOOO! Haven't found any that I particularly like, but this Saturday i'm going to shop around some more.

Thanks to the power of positive thinking, a stigmatism in my left eye and near sightedness my day is turning around. Time to eat supper, then off to drama practice.
Keep filling that mind of yours with GOOD thoughts.
-Rach :)

February LOVES.

I'm really into YouTube, I'm subscribed to probably 200 beauty gurus, and if you've watched even just a few beauty videos, you've probably seen a "Favorites" video. A really simple concept, they basically just tell you what they've been loving over the past month. So considering that it is February, the month of love, i'll show YOU what I've been LOVING!

Favorite photo goes to this adorable lil' pup! How CUTE?!

Over the next photo's I'm positive you'll start to grasp my sense of humor. I like the over dramatic, sarcastic kind of jokes. And I like wit. Wit is always funny :) So here is the funniest photo I saw this month:  (actually I take that back, maybe not the FUNNIEST, but it is the funniest one that I recently came across. haha. As a high schooler, I've found myself feeling this way)

I hope I'm not the only one who didn't have a Valentine! Props to whoever did this... TOO FUNNY! Favorite Valentine goes to this:

Most interesting fact (I guess it would be considered facts!) I found this month goes to:
( Side note: I love Shakespeare)

Fave YouTuber: HelloKatyxo or the Shaytards. I highly recommend both!
(links below!)

Fave food: Pizza. Pizza will always be my favorite. Or sushi.

Cutest Room Decor Item. (my goal for march is to make this and put above my own door. Super great reminder :) )

I'm going to take this opportunity to share with you one of my favorite things in the world. TABLE SETTINGS! How random? This obsession began when I was planning this years birthday party. Thanks to Pinterest that obsession has grown and grown. So here is the prettiest table setting of February!

Best read was definitely Kat Zhang's "What's Left Of Me". A really fascinating, easy book. I won't give away to much, but if you enjoyed "The Hunger Games" or "Divergent" you'll LOVE this book.

And finally, i'm going to include the look that if I was super daring I would totally wear:

I love the gold and baby pink combination! And hey, a little bit of Chanel never hurts either!
